Wine Tastings

The perfect way to spend a day, wine tastings are a great way to explore a region. Each winery offers a unique experience, so no two wine tastings are alike. Here are some of the categories of wine tasting:

Standard Tastings

Typically, these are “flights” of 3-5 different wines from a particular winery. A wine expert will guide you through each wine’s origin, production and special characteristics.

Reserve Tastings

Special wines “reserved” by the winery are shared with visitors. They may have been aged longer, or in a unique fashion, but there is no standard for what comprises a “reserve” wine.

Barrel Tastings

Wine is tasted out of the barrel frequently as it ages to determine the best time to bottle the wine. Many wineries now offer visitors the chance to experience wine the way the vintners do.

Blended Tastings

Make your own, custom-blended bottle of wine, or sample barrels of various appellations and varietals to learn about terroir and blends.

Component Tastings

Want to learn why some wines appeal to you more than others? Focuses on wine and its essential components - sugar, alcohol, acid and tannins, and how blending together creates balance.

Food Pairings

Carefully selected and prepared appetizers, cheeses, entrees and chocolates are paired with the wines that best suit them.
